Making Merchandise of the Saints of God

2 Pet 2:1-4
"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment"

The Word of God warns us about those who make merchandise of saints of God. We have to be careful about them. Merchandise means 'commodities of commerce'. To engage in commerce is to trade. The Word of God warns us that these men who use  feigned words (made-up stories) will turn the saints of God into commodities of commerce. These men turn the house of God into a place of trade. They use the saints as trade items to make profit.

Watch carefully to see those in the House of God who are after making profit. These men turn into business experts and run the churches under their leadership as business enterprises. Unfortunately, the Word of God also says that many will follow them. It is those who have a heart after profit and money that will follow them. When you follow a man or woman who is after money that means that you are also after money. So you share their punishment. Let no one deceive you that you can escape. That is why the Word of God warns us sternly.

If God did not spare the angels that sinned, then He will not spare these men who make the saints of God into merchandise. They use the churches as a means of making profit. Avoid such men. They have denied the Lord who bought them and they have brought upon themselves swift destruction.
